The Hottest State

December 25, 2008 1 comment

Last 3 weeks ago, I went to a known bookstore here in the PI, to buy a book using my sodexho gift certificate worth Php 500.oo. I was thinking to get 2 books which will just cost me, well for the exact amount ofmy gc.

I stumbled upon this book who was written by no other than Ethan Hawke, and I was too curious to read it, knowing that Ethan Hawke was artistic enough to write something. I thought maybe I’ll give it a shot eventhough it’ll cost me a few more bucks than what my gc is worth.

It was pretty much a love story.

It’s a typical guy who has a dysfunctional family, living his so called life, dated a few whom he just spent sex with until meeting a girl whom he would fell inlove with then losing her without really knowing what he did wrong.

I got hooked into the book because somehow all of us could relate to it, especially me. I had experienced what I can say the same fate as the major character in the book had experienced. So it made me watch the movie version of it.

First off, the movie was also great although there were minor things that somehow made me say that it could have been better if they just spent money for it to be much better.

The part where William is supposed to shoot a movie, in the book it was Europe, but in the movie it was just Mexico. I think if they stick to the original place where it all began, it’ll give emphasis maybe on how things went wrong, I don’t know or maybe it’s just me, relied too much that the story from the book will be really shown on it’s movie version.

And the last part, was also changed from the book to the movie. The last part in the movie was a bit disappointing for me, it was too dreamy without knowing what’s really the score or what really happened. It’s like saying “so that’s it huh?”.

If you have seen the movie, I guarantee you that you’ll enjoy the book much better.

I give the movie 4 stars since they didn’t really give much of a budget to it. lol. And the book, a perfect 5 stars for the way the author give emphasis on how each character makes a reader getting hooked or relate to the whole drama.

So that’s it for now.

Happy Holidays Everyone.

First Love Never Dies…

My brother is getting into watching korean movies lately. I was doing the usual in front of the pc surfing the internet thingy, and he went out. I received a text message from him saying that I needed to watch a korean movie before going to sleep. He also mention that since I was fond of watching My Sassy Girl, i would definitely also loved the korean movie he wanted me to see, he also quoted, I’d definitely burst into tears while watching it.

I checked the movie into a well known site where you could watch asian movies, then I searched for it. To keep you from excitement, here is the poster of the movie.

A Millionaire's First Love

A Millionaire's First Love

The story revolves between a spoiled young man who does what we wants to do with his money, and a young quiet looking odd girl who appeared in front of him after his 18tth birthday celebration. The two are actually childhood friends, boy left a promise to comeback for the girl. After knowing what he was bound to do, only to realize they only have a few days left to cherish.

The story is well, dramatic, with a twist of comedy.

Although, I didn’t cry, there were words use in the movie, that made me think that those are somewhat true. It’s just that the storyline itself made me think that I have already seen it before.

It’s still worth watching though, you won’t actually say that you have wasted 2 hours of your time watching the movie.

I give it 4 stars.
